900 passengers escape death in Lagos train accident - Punch
Over nine hundred passengers escaped death on Friday morning when a 10-coach Iddo-bound train rammed into a truck at Ilupeju Railway Crossing near Oshodi, Lagos.
The accident, which occurred at about 7.30 am, led to traffic gridlock on the Ilupeju/Oshodi Road for several hours.

Top Gun director jumps to his death from L.A. bridge

A Coroners’ Court in Lagos sitting in Ikeja, on Tuesday heard that another aircraft in Dana Airline’s fleet had hydraulic pressure problem apart from the ill-fated plane that crashed on June 3.

Suicide bomber kills seven soldiers. Several others wounded
Seven people have been confirmed dead, while about ten others were injured, in an explosion which rocked Damaturu, the Yobe state capital on Sunday.
The explosion occurred when a suicide bomber driving a CRV Jeep on the opposite lane of the dual carriage of Gashua road was intercepted at a check point by officers of the Joint Task Force (JTF) in the state.

Fashola bars NURTW from motor Parks
In what seems to be a fight back, the Lagos State Government has banned the operations of members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, in motor parks across the State.
Making this known at a news conference on the new Traffic Law in Lagos, Commissioner for Transportation, Kayode Opeifa said collection of tolls from motorists along the road by any union has also been banned.

A Bangladeshi man who went missing 23 years ago shocked his family after returning to his ancestral village.

Court denies oluwaseun ogunbambo bail
A Lagos High Court Judge, Adeniyi Onigbanjo, today denied bail to Oluwaseun Ogunbambo, citing his criminal antecedents.
Mr. Babajide Koku (SAN), the counsel for Mr. Ogunbambo and another freshly arraigned suspect,Habila Theck, had filed applications for their bail. The Ikeja-based high court granted bail to Mr. Theck in the sum of N150 million with two sureties in like sum. Justice Adeniyi Onigbanjo ruled that the sureties must have landed property in Lagos worth N100 million.
