Psquare buries mum
Tears were uncontrolled as the singing duo today layed their mother to rest. Mrs. Josephine Okoye, 62, was payed the final respect in Ifitedunu, Akwa Village, Anambra State, southwest Nigeria.
Shortly after her lying-in-state at Ifitedunu, a church service was held in her honour at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, Anambra State. She was buried in an M.I.C gold casket.
While praising his mother, Peter, one of the P-Square twins said: “It is with great sadness that I stand up here today delivering this eulogy for my mother. She cared deeply for everybody she knew, whether you were her family member, friend or co-worker. My mother was always willing to help out someone in need and had a very kind heart. I couldn’t have asked for a better mother. She taught me a lot about balancing work and family. I will miss my mother dearly and I’m so happy for the times we got to spend together. She was a caring and loving person, and was the best mother in the world! Even though she is gone, her memory will live on in our hearts forever. God bless you Mom, your friends and family will miss you forever.”
In his own reaction, Paul said: “My mother was a petite woman, but there was nothing small about her legacy, or the impact she had on others. In life, she was in a constant state of motion. She was a whirlwind; never stopping or slowing down. That kind of energy keeps moving out and beyond. Thank you Mom for giving me the freedom and space to dream. You said: ‘Do what makes you happy, you will never be happy doing something you don’t like.’ Thank you for showing me how to be a true friend to others. Thank you for teaching me how to be compassionate andforgiving. Mom, you were our rock and our anchor. Rest in peace Mummy.”
The husband of the deceased, Mr. Moses Okoye, stated: “Many women do noble things, but you surpassed them all. Family, friends, brethren, as we gather to honour my lovely wife, Josephine, it is fitting to do so by worshipping together, the Lord who called her out of darkness few weeks ago. Her faith in Jesus Christ as her personal King and saviour was not without effect. It was a foundation upon which was built, one of the characteristics of Josephine, her strong sense of hope. We will surely miss her, but we rejoice that her eternal hopes are now fulfilled.”
