Rashidi Yekini: Oyo Lawyer Set To Investigate Death

Investigations into the death of former Super Eagles Striker,Rashidi Yekini have not been closed as it was revealed on Wednesday that several Lawyers in Oyo state have voiced their desire to dig and gather accurate information about the mishap. Yekini who was reported to have died on 4, May 2012 in Ibadan, was just a few weeks prior, moved away from his home by hisfamily members. Mohammed Olanrewaju, Yekini’s Lawyer disclosed that a team of lawyers were set to delve into the issue and expose the facts surrounding Yekini’s death. Olanrewaju said: “The lawyers areunhappy that everyone keeps quiet over the death of Rashidi because it revolves round his family. They have argued that the issue goes beyond family matter, not only because a national hero was involved but because of the traces of manslaughter or murderthat are noticed in the reports before he died.” He further stated that as a show of penitence by the family, he had called on them severally to apologise to the nation over their role in his death. “What the family did was not acceptable. I have called on them to come out with the truth and name those involved in the circumstances leading to his death. They were misled by the negative reports about their son’shealth and I told them not to keepquiet over the matter. If they had done that, the nation would have forgiven them. I am aware that everyone is furious over his death.” He pointed out that the present investigation sought to clarify the issue of Rashidi’s whereabouts between the time he was taken away by his family and the time he was moved to a hospital where he was pronounced dead
